ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An edge preparation for a UOE Process is carried out by bending a steel plate at a longitudinal side edge along the length thereof, followed by U-ing, in the course of a steel pipe making process and utilizing a pressing force to bend the edge, the edge preparation is especially useful for thick steel plate and for broadening the available range of making thick steel pipe without peaking on a seam.
