Abstract: The present invention relates to a decoder for an encoded video signal. The decoder comprises a unit for filtering the encoded video signal in at least two dimensions to separate the encoded video signal into a luminance signal and a chrominance signal. The chrominance signal has two components. A unit is provided for filtering the luminance signal to produce a corrected luminance signal as a function of the edges and peaks of the chrominance signal. A unit is also provided for filtering the chrominance signal to produce a corrected chrominance signal having enhanced chrominance edges as a function of edges in the chrominance signal.
