An additive to enhance the activity of an FCC catalyst co:-itaining zeolite and matrix components comprises zeolite microspheres having a novel morphology comprising a macroporous matrix and crystallized zeolite freely coating the walls of the pores of the matrix. The additives formed from microspheres containing a metakaolin and kaolin ca:Lcined through its exotherm, the latter calcined kaolin being derived from a kaolin having a high pore volume. Kaolin having a high pore volume can be a pulverized ull:rafine kaolin or a kaolin which has been pulverized to have an incipient slurry point less than 57% solids.

L'invention concerne un additif permettant d'accroître l'activité d'un catalyseur de craquage catalytique fluide (FCC) renfermant des composants de zéolite et de matrice comprenant des microsphères de zéolite présentant une nouvelle morphologie à matrice macroporeuse et zéolite cristallisée revêtant de manière libre les parois des pores de la matrice. Les additifs formés à partir de microsphères renferment un métakaolin et un kaolin calciné grâce à son exothermie, ce kaolin calciné étant dérivé d'un kaolin possédant un volume poreux élevé. Un kaolin à volume poreux élevé peut être pulvérisé en un kaolin ultrafin ou en un kaolin ayant été pulvérisé de manière à posséder une teneur en matière sèche de suspension initiale inférieure à 57 %.? ¿
