14 ABSTRACT Method of establishing a mutual matching code for a base unit and a mobile unit, more specifically a telephone, and an arrangement for putting the method into effect. The method consists in effecting a new mutual match of a base unit and a mobile unit each time the mobile unit is replaced on the base unit; establishing this match is delayed when the base unit and the mobile unit have not been matched already; the base unit detect (DCCB10) that the mobile unit is replaced on it from the establishment of the charging current for the accumulators of the mobile unit; the mobile unit identification code is stored in the internal random-access memory RAM of the micro- processor (EMM10).
