A method for evaluating the performance of an instrument, particularly a hematology analyzer, by comparing its operating data with data compiled from a group of like instruments is provided. The method contemplates collecting historical data which is deposited in a central database (14) where it may retrieved by any participating laboratory. The participating laboratory performs an analysis and then accesses the database (16) to retrieve data obtained from comparable instruments performing like analyses. The comparative analysis is then conducted from which a determination may be made with regard to a particular instrument.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'évaluer la performance d'un instrument, en particulier d'un dispositif d'analyse du sang, en comparant ses données de fonctionnement avec les données compilées à partir d'un groupe d'instruments similaires. Ce procédé consiste à collecter des données historiques déposées dans une base (14) de données centrales d'où elles peuvent être extraites par tout laboratoire participant. Le laboratoire participant effectue une analyse puis accède à la base (16) de données afin d'extraire les données obtenues avec des instruments comparables effectuant des analyses du même type. On effectue alors une analyse comparative permettant l'évaluation d'un instrument particulier.
