It is intended to devise a technique of measuring a .beta.-amyloid in a biological specimen such as blood and apply the same to the diagnosis of Alzheimer~s disease. Alzheimer~s disease can be examined by measuring the total content of .beta.-amyloid 1-42 and .beta.-amyloid 1-42 fragments having the C-terminal part of .beta.-amyloid 1-42 in a biological specimen by using an immunoassay method wherein an antibody capable of recognizing the C- terminal part of .beta.-amyloid 1-42 is employed. It is preferable that the above immunoassay method is a competitive immunoassay method.
L~invention porte sur une technique de mesure d~une amyloïde .beta. dans un spécimen biologique comme le sang et l'application de ladite technique au diagnostic de la maladie d~Alzheimer. On peut examiner la maladie d~Alzheimer en mesurant la teneur totale d~amyloïde .beta. 1-42 et de fragments d~amyloïde .beta. 1-42 ayant la partie terminale C d~amyloïde .beta. 1-42 dans un spécimen biologique en utilisant un procédé d~immuno-analyse employant un anticorps capable de reconnaître la partie terminale C d~amyloïde .beta. 1-42. Il est préférable que le procédé d~immuno-analyse ci-dessus soit un procédé d~immuno-analyse compétitif.
