A novel method of examining cancer by assaying an autoantibody against MDM2 in the blood and a reagent and a kit therefor. For example, cancer is examined by an immunological method with the use of a peptide fragment of MDM2 as an antigen and anti-MDM2 antibody, which is optionally labeled, obtained from this antigen as an antibody for assaying the autoantibody as described above.
