ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In order to reduce stresses applied to the walls of sleeve or plate moulds and to arbors during explosive forming of tubular copper moulds for continuous casting of metals, forming is carried out by applying and detonating in turn successive groups of peripherally spaced explosive charges ex- tending longitudinally of the exterior of the mould wall or walls, the charges being placed so that charges in different groups are detonated adjacent different portions of the external surface of the mould.
