METHOD OF EXTRACTING AND TRANSPORTING TRITIUM Abstract: A method of obtaining a pure tritium gas by continuous separation of tritium from a medium containing tritium at low partial pressure is disclosed. An ion exchange resin, alumina, montmorillonite, or any other material whose major charge carrier is a hydrogen ion is sandwiched between electrodes in the form of a membrane of hydrogen-permeable metal such as platinum or palladium. A current is applied between the two electrodes so that the tritium in a medium placed in contact with one electrode is transported from one side of the membrane to the other side where a pure tritium gas is obtained.
