A method of fabricating a dual wall storage tank. Firstly, providing a metal outer tank having at least one opening. Secondly, placing the metal outer tank in a rotational molding machine. Thirdly, using the metal outer tank as a mold for a process of rotational molding a free standing polymer plastic inner tank. Fourthly, cooling the polymer plastic inner tank, such that the inner tank contracts from the metal outer tank forming a leakage space. Fifthly, positioning seals between the metal outer tank and the polymer plastic inner tank at the at least one opening to seal the leakage space, such that the metal outer tank provides secondary containment in the event of a rupture of the polymer plastic inner tank with liquids being confined within the leakage space.
Cette invention concerne une méthode de fabrication d'un réservoir à double paroi. En premier, on réalise une coquille métallique extérieure comportant au moins une ouverture. Deuxièmement, on place cette coquille métallique extérieure dans une machine de rotomoulage. Troisièmement, on utilise la coquille métallique extérieure comme moule pour la réalisation par rotomoulage d'une coquille intérieure autostable en plastique polymère. Quatrièmement, on refroidit la coquille intérieure en plastique polymère de façon que, par contraction, elle se décolle de la coquille extérieure et laisse un espace annulaire vide entre les deux coquilles. Cinquièmement, on place des joints d'étanchéité entre les deux coquilles à l'endroit de l'ouverture susmentionnée de manière à fermer hermétiquement l'espace annulaire entre les deux et faire de la coquille extérieure un moyen de confinement secondaire en cas de rupture de la coquille annulaire intérieure en plastique polymère, la fuite étant ainsi confinée à l'intérieur de l'espace annulaire.
