Abstract of the Disclosure An aluminium plate-type anode is secured to the bottom of a tin- plated container to preserve canned meat and the like from sulphide dis- colourations. The bottom of the container is provided with an opening surrounded by an inwardly directed flange. The anode plate has a correspond- ing opening, and is placed on the bottom of the container with its opening surrounding the flange. Solder is added to close the bottom opening and interconnect the anode to the flange, the solder forming crowned flashes on each side of the opening. Upon cooling of the solder the flashes are pressed into a flattened condition.
