Method of weaving a variable cross-sectional shaped three-dimensional fabric which utilizes different weft yarn insertion from at least one side of the warp layers (X) for selectively inserting weft yarns (Y1,Y2) into different portions of the fabric cross-sectional profile defined by the warp yarn layers (X) during the weaving process. If inserted from both sides of the warp layers (X), the weft yarns (Y1,Y2) may be inserted simultaneously or alternatively from each side of the warp yarn layers (X). The vertical yarn (Z) is then inserted into the fabric by reciprocation of a plurality of harnesses (11a,11b,12a,12b) which separate the vertical yarn (Z) into a plurality of vertical yarn systems as required by the shape of the three-dimensional fabric being formed. The invention provides a method of forming three-dimensional woven fabrics of varying cross-sectional shapes for use as composite materials or the like.
Méthode de tissage d'un tissu tridimensionnel en coupe transversale variable. D'après cette méthode, on procède à une insertion différente des fils de trame à partir d'au moins un côté des couches de chaîne (X), afin d'insérer de façon sélective les fils de trame (Y1, Y2) dans différentes parties du profil en travers du tissu formé par les couches de fils de chaîne (X) durant le processus de tissage. S'ils sont insérés à partir des deux côtés des couches de chaîne (X), les fils de trame (Y1, Y2) peuvent être insérés simultanément ou en alternance de chaque côté des couches de fils de chaîne (X). Le fil vertical (Z) est alors inséré dans le tissu par un mouvement alternatif de plusieurs harnais (11a, 11b, 12a, 12b) qui séparent le fil vertical (Z) en plusieurs réseaux de fil vertical afin de correspondre à la forme du tissu tridimensionnel ainsi fabriqué. L'invention comprend une méthode de fabrication de tissus mailles tridimensionnels de diverses formes en coupe transversale, pour utilisation comme composites ou comme produits similaires.
