ABSTRACT A method is proposed for handling plants, preferably potted plants in connection with transplant- ing them, where seeds sown in substrate in small, preliminary receptacles are allowed to grow into plants of a given size, after which the units comprising preliminary receptacle, substrate and plant are acclimatized. The units are then frozen, and remain frozen during a chosen period of time. The plants and substrate clumps are removed from the preliminary receptacles in an at least partially frozen state and transferred to larger final receptacles for the continued growth of the plants.
