A method of handling SMS messages in a radio telecommunications network when an originating mobile station-based Short Message Entity (MS-SME) (31) sends an SMS origination message (35) while operating in a first Mobile Switching Center (MSC) (32) and then moves into a second MSC (33) before the MS-SME receives an SMS acknowledgement message (43). The method begins by including an R_Transaction ID parameter in the SMS origination message (35) sent over the Digital Traffic Channel (DTC) from the originating MS-SME to the first MSC. If the MS-SME moved back to an anchor MSC (33), an SMS_Transaction ID (SMSTID) parameter (37) is included in an ANSI-41 SMS Delivery Backward (SMDBACK) Invoke message (36) sent from the first MSC to the anchor MSC. The SMSTID parameter utilizes information from the R_Transaction ID parameter to enable the MS-SME to correlate an SMS acknowledgement message with the SME origination message. If the MS-SME moved to a new serving MSC (51), the SMSTID parameter is placed in an SMS Delivery Point-to-Point Acknowledgement (SMDPPACK) Invoke message (57), and sent from the anchor MSC (33) to the new serving MSC (57). The information in the SMSTID parameter is used by the second MSC to send an SMS acknowledgement message (60) to the originating MS- SME.
L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement de messages SMS dans un réseau de radiotélécommunications lorsqu'une entité message court (MS-SME) (31) basée sur une station mobile d'origine envoie un message d'origine SMS (35) en fonctionnant dans un premier centre de commutation mobile (MSC) (32) puis passe à un second MSC (33) avant que le MS-SME ne reçoive un message accusé réception SMS (43). Ce procédé consiste d'abord à introduire un paramètre R_Transaction ID dans le message d'origine SMS (35) envoyé par le canal de trafic numérique (DTC) du MS-SME d'origine au premier MSC.
