A method for the low temperature heat treatment of an age-hardenable magnesium based alloy, including following steps: (a) providing a solution heat-treated and quenched age-hardenable magnesium based alloy; and (b) subjecting said alloy to low temperature ageing below 120 °C for a period of time sufficient to develop an enhanced ageing response.

L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement thermique à basse température d'un alliage de magnésium durcissable par vieillissement, qui consiste à: a) utiliser un alliage de magnésium durcissable par vieillissement thermotraité et trempé dans une solution; et b) soumettre ledit alliage à un vieillissement à basse température inférieure à 120 °C pendant une durée suffisante pour obtenir une réaction de vieillissement améliorée.
