A method for culturing at a high concentration nitrifying bacteria contained in activated sludge (sewage sludge, raw sewage sludge, etc.) which comprises nitrifying and acclimatizing the activated sludge under the conditions of an dissolved oxygen concentration of 2 to 4 mg/l, at pH 7.5 to 8.5 and at a temperature of 25 to 35 ~C for about 1 to 2 months with the use of a treated sludge waste such as filtrate obtained by dehydrating sludge or nitrification waste liquor (ammonia concentration: 100 to 300 mg/l); and continuously sustaining the pH value, which is liable to shift toward the acidic region in the acclimatization process, within a range of from 7.5 to 8.5 by adding a culture promoter comprising a mixture of sodium carbonate and sodium hydrogencarbonate (molar ratio: 4-7:4-8) to thereby acclimatize and accumulate the nitrifying bacteria contained in the active sludge. Thus, nitrifying bacteria contained active sludge can be cultured in a large amount at a high concentration.

L'invention concerne un procédé de culture de bactéries nitrifiantes à haute concentration contenues dans des boues activées (boues d'égout, boues d'égout brutes, etc.) consistant à nitrifier et à acclimater les boues activées dans les conditions d'une concentration en oxygène dissous de 2 à 4 mg/l, à un pH de 7,5 à 8,5 et à une température de 25 à 35 ·C pendant environ 1 à 2 mois à l'aide de boues d'égout traitées tel qu'un filtrat obtenu par déshydratation de boues ou d'une liqueur résiduelle de nitrification (concentration en gaz ammoniac: 100 à 300 mg/l), et à maintenir de façon continue la valeur de pH, laquelle est susceptible de se décaler vers la région acide dans le processus d'acclimatation dans une plage allant de 7,5 à 8,5 par addition d'un promoteur de culture contenant un mélange de carbonate de sodium et de carbonate d'hydrogène de sodium (rapport molaire: 4-7:4-8) afin d'acclimater et d'accumuler ainsi les bactéries nitrifiantes contenues dans les boues actives. Ainsi, les bactéries nitrifiantes contenues dans les boues actives peuvent être mises en culture en grande quantité et sous haute concentration.
