ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a method of high- frequency welding of sections of a flange-web type. In accordance with the method flange blanks and web blanks to be welded are taken. At one side the ends of the blanks are brought together by bending the flange blank round a variable-sign radius until it touches the web blank at the point of convergence. A high-frequency current is applied through contacts to other drawn-apart ends of the blanks. Then both the blanks are heated and pressed together. The intensity of heating of the blanks is changed by inducing an electromotive force in the flange blank and by inducing an additional electromotive force in the web blank on the side of the lateral surface thereof. The apparatus for carrying out the method consists of a high-frequency current source, current-carrying conductors electrically associated with the current source, and con- tact tips of the current-carrying conductors for trans- mitting the high-frequency current to drawn-apart ends of the blanks. Squeeze rolls, whose axes of rotation lie in the planes perpendicular to the web blank, act on the drawn-apart ends of the blanks. A device for inducing an electromotive force in the flange blank is made in the form of a current-carrying busbar arranged oppositely to the web blank and equidistantly to the external surface of the squeeze roll acting upon the flange blank. A tension- ing roll is installed with a gap relative to the squeeze roll acting on the flange blank, sufficient for passing the flange blank between these said rolls. A device for in- ducing an additional electromotive force in the web blank is disposed between the squeeze rolls and the contact tip and the conductor supplying current to the web blank.
