A method of identifying a visitor to a website and using information about the identified visitor to conditionally display information on the website, comprises the steps of providing an Enhanced Uniform Resource Locator that includes an identifier related to a first database; permitting the visitor to visit the website via the Enhanced Uniform Resource Locator; transmitting the identifier to the webserver; capturing the identifier for subsequent use at the website; matching the identifier with information in a record in a second database, thereby identifying the visitor; retrieving the information from the second database; generating displayable information: related to the retrieved information; and, displaying the displayable information on the website Alternatively, instead of using a second database, the displayable information, could be generated from the identifier through the use of an algorithm.
