ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is disclosed a method of igniting arcs comprising the steps of forming an electric field in the vicinity of at least one electrode and a workpiece on which an operation is to be performed; and projecting an ignition-plasma into the electric field in such a manner that the ignition-plasma is directed against a cathode, to thereby form an arc.
