ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE : A method of influencing the distribution of various constituents in an electrically conductive liquid, particularly in molten metal. The method of the invention is characterized in that, an electric current is passed through the liquid and at the same time a magnetic field is built up approximately at right angles to the direction of the electric current. The invention enables one to reduce or increase the effects of the differences in the density of the constituents.
