ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method of inputting displacements of movable bodies to an apparatus for automatically moving movable bodies to predetermined positions. A displacement of a body to a predeter- mined position is replaced with pulse signals by an encoder in such a manner that a unit displacement corresponds to one pulse, these pulse signals are counted by a counter, and the counted value is stored in a memory, whereby distance data is inputted based on the counted value thus stored.
