A method of installing a door closing apparatus is described. Firstly, provide a door closing apparatus having a housing with a pivotally attached closure arm. Secondly, provide a bracket having a first flange conjoined at a right angle with a second flange. The second flange has a plurality of apertures. Thirdly, attach the first flange of the bracket to one of the housing and the closure arm of the door closing apparatus with the second flange extending substantially perpendicularly away from the one of the housing and the closure arm. Fourthly, place the second flange of the bracket on a top peripheral edge of a door and extend rotatable fasteners through the apertures to fasten the second flange to the top peripheral edge of the door. This method is intended to facilitate installation of a door closing apparatus without making any holes in the face of the door.
