The present invention relates to the introduction of an outstation into an optical network. The optical network has a central station, and a plurality of previously introduced outstations which are optically connected to the central station. The network is operable in: a normal operating state in which data traffic is received from previously introduced outstations at a normal data rate; and, a set-up state in which the transmission of data traffic from the previously introduced outstations is restricted relative to the normal state, the method including the step of: when the network is in the set-up state, performing a set-up operation for introducing the outstation into the optical network, the set-up operation involving the transmission of set-up data from the outstation being introduced, wherein the set-up data is transmitted at a reduced rate relative to the normal operating rate.
La présente invention concerne l'introduction d'une station d'extrémité dans un réseau optique. Le réseau optique comporte une station centrale et une pluralité de stations d'extrémité déjà introduites qui sont optiquement reliées à la station centrale. Le réseau peut fonctionner: dans un état de fonctionnement normal dans lequel le trafic de données est reçu en provenance de stations d'extrémité déjà introduites à un débit de données normal; et un état d'installation dans lequel la transmission du trafic de données provenant des stations d'extrémité déjà introduites est limitée par rapport à l'état normal. Le procédé comprend une étape telle que lorsque le réseau se trouve dans l'état d'installation, une opération d'installation est exécutée pour introduire la station d'extrémité dans le réseau optique, cette opération d'installation impliquant la transmission de données d'installation provenant de la station d'extrémité devant être introduite, lesdites données d'installation étant transmises à un débit plus faible que le débit de fonctionnement normal.
