Described is method of joining lengths of rope or cable to press-on elements (13), a press-on element (13) being placed on the rope or cable, and the press- on element (13) plus rope or cable compressed radially, so that it undergoes plastic deformation, by the jaws (3, 4) of a compression device (1, 11, 31, 41, 51), thus reducing the cross section. The invention calls for the increase in length of the rope or cable and/or of the press-on element (13) produced on compression to be measured and for compression to be discontinued when the increase in length reaches a given value (db).
Dans un procédé d'assemblage de câbles ou cordes et d'éléments à emmancher (13), l'élément à emmancher (13) est enfiché sur le câble ou la corde puis le câble ou la corde et l'élément à emmancher (13) sont plastiquement comprimés radialement au moyen d'un dispositif de compression (1,11,31,41,51) présentant une mâchoire (3,4), ce qui engendre une réduction de la section du matériau. Selon l'invention, on mesure l'augmentation de la longueur du câble ou de la corde et/ou de l'élément à emmancher (13) lors de la compression et la compression est achevée lorsque l'allongement de la longueur atteint une valeur maximale (db) prédéterminée.
