ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The method relates to the machining of a workpiece. In particular in the method the workpiece is machined with the rotary cutting tool concurrently with tool resharpening which is applied to the relief surface of the tool edge leaving the cutting lip thereof unaffected and leaving a wear land on the edge relief surface, the width of the wear land being main- tained, in the machining, within the limits sufficient to provide for a preset tolerance margin for the dimension of the workpiece being machined. The present invention can be applied to best advantage for machining large-sized workpieces (having an area in excess of 10 sq.m.) under mass and large- lot production conditions, as well as for machining workpieces in multiple-tool machines.
