A method of making a spirally wound dry bonded paperboard structure. The method includes adding a radio frequency active adhesive such as a silicate to the paperboard pulp stock during the paperboard fabrication process to first produce an RF active adhesive impregnated paperboard. The impregnated paperboard is then exposed to an RF energy field prior to or during winding, which activates the adhesive. The invention eliminates the need to apply a water-based adhesive to the paperboard prior to forming the structure, thereby reducing water migration into the paperboard.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une structure de carton collée à sec, enroulée en spirale. A cet effet, pendant la fabrication du carton, on ajoute à la pâte à papier un adhésif rendu actif par les radiofréquences tel que qu'un silicate, de façon à produire d'abord un carton imprégné de colle rendue active par les radiofréquences. On soumet alors à un champ d'énergie radiofréquence le carton imprégné avant ou pendant l'enroulement, ce qui active l'adhésif. L'invention permet ainsi de se dispenser de l'application de colle à l'eau sur le carton avant de donner forme à la structure, réduisant d'autant la migration d'eau vers l'intérieur du carton.
