A method of manufacturing a foil faced financial transaction card and the card made thereby, wherein the card meets ANSI/ISO specifications for the characteristics of a financial transaction card including the specification for resistance to delamination while allowing graphics to be printed on the foil faced card using offset litho presses. The method includes providing a plastic substrate layer (2) and a metal containing foil layer (1) having a front surface with a printable top coat layer thereon. The foil layer is mounted by its back surface on a surface of the substrate layer. A layer (10) of an adhesive is applied to the printable top coat layer of the foil layer. Graphics are printed on the adhesive layer and a clear protective overlay (4) provided on the front surface of the adhesive layer over the graphics thereon.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une carte de transactions financières à revêtement métallique et la carte ainsi obtenue, celle-ci répondant aux exigences ANSI/ISO relatives aux caractéristiques de la carte de transactions financières, notamment la résistance au délaminage, tout en permettant l'impression d'éléments graphiques sur la carte à revêtement métallique au moyen de presses offset lithographiques. Ce procédé consiste à fournir une couche (2) de substrat en plastique et une couche (1) métallique dont la surface avant comporte une couche de revêtement supérieure imprimable. La couche métallique est appliquée sur le dos sur une surface de la couche de substrat. Une couche (10) d'adhésif est appliquée sur la couche de revêtement supérieure imprimable de la couche métallique. Les éléments graphiques sont imprimés sur la couche adhésive, un revêtement (4) clair de protection étant appliqué sur la surface avant de la couche adhésive, au dessus des éléments graphiques.
