ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of making a manganese-activated zinc sulphide electroluminescent powder for D.C. excitation which contributes to a high electroluminescent brightness, high breakdown voltage and high uniformity and fineness of luminosity of the luminous area in an electroluminescent panel. The feature of this method is to fire a mixture of raw zinc sulphide powder and a maganese compound in an atmosphere of carbon disulphide with a carrier gas.
