A method for manufacturing a foraminous abrasive article whereby abrasive particles are concentrated in an external surface region of a foraminous substrate. The method includes the steps of: providing a foamable, hardenable, liquid resin composition and a foraminous substrate having an external surface; foaming the resin composition effective to disperse a plurality of gas bubbles throughout the resin composition; applying the foamed resin composition to the external surface of the substrate to form a foam coating layer having an upper surface; applying a plurality of abrasive particles to the upper surface of the foam coating layer; heating the foamed coating layer effective to eliminate the gas bubbles from the foamed coating layer; and hardening the resin composition to attach the abrasive particles to the substrate. The invention also concerns the foraminous abrasive article products of this method.
L'invention porte sur un procédé de fabrication d'un article abrasif foraminé, consistant à concentrer des particules abrasives dans la zone superficielle extérieure d'un substrat foraminé. Ledit procédé consiste à: partir d'une composition de résine liquide expansible et durcissable et d'un substrat foraminé présentant une surface extérieure; faire mousser ladite composition de résine de manière à disperser une multitude de bulles de gaz à l'intérieur de la composition; appliquer la résine expansée sur la surface extérieure du substrat pour former un revêtement de mousse ayant une surface supérieure; appliquer plusieurs particules abrasives sur la surface supérieure de la couche de revêtement de mousse; chauffer ledit revêtement de manière à en éliminer les bulles de gaz; laisser durcir la composition de résine pour fixer les particules abrasives au substrat. L'invention porte également sur des produits contenant les articles abrasifs foraminés de ce procédé.
