ABSTRACT A method of making a water-sensitive corrugated board water-resistant and rigid in the wet state, is disclosed. The board is soaked with an aqueous composition comprising a water-soluble alkali silicate, a hardener for the alkali silicate, and a dispersed waxy substance, whereupon the board is dewatered and heat-treated. A composition for carrying out this method is also disclosed. The composition is a thermosetting composition comprising water, a water-soluble alkali silicate, a har- dener for the alkali silicate, and a waxy substance dis- persed in the water.
