A method for making alkyl esters, or methylester specifically, such as biodiesel, from an oil source is described. The method involves simultaneously reacting the free fatty acids and glycerides of the oil source with methanol, under pressure up to 500 psia, into fatty acid alkyl esters. The conversion is catalyzed by an acid at temperatures between about 80°C to about 200°C.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'esters d'alkyle, ou, plus précisément, de méthylester, par exemple le biodiesel, à partir d'une source d'huile. Ledit procédé consiste à faire réagir simultanément les acides gras libres et les glycérides de la source d'huile avec le méthanol, sous une pression allant jusqu'à 500 psia, en esters d'alkyle d'acides gras. La conversion est catalysée par un acide à des températures comprises entre environ 80 ·C et environ 200 ·C.
