A method of making an article of sanitaryware from a composite of a facing sheet (10) of an acrylic material and a backing sheet (14) of a thermoplastic material other than an acrylic material, includes the steps of heating each of the facing sheet (10) and the backing sheet (14) to a temperature within the vacuum forming range; bringing the facing sheet (10) and the backing sheet (14) together between a nip (18) between a first roller (20) and a second roller (22) to exclude any gasses trapped or formed between the two sheets (10, 14) and to bond the two sheets (10, 14) together to form the composite; and placing the composite in a vacuum forming mould and applying suitable conditions of pressure to mould the article from the composite.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'articles pour sanitaires à partir d'un matériau composite constitué par une feuille supérieure (10) en matériau acrylique et par une feuille d'appui (14) en matériau thermoplastique autre qu'acrylique. Le procédé consiste à chauffer la feuille supérieure (10) et la feuille d'appui (14) à une température comprise dans la plage correspondant au formage sous vide, à faire passer les feuilles (10 et 14) dans l'écartement (18) entre un premier cylindre (20) et un second cylindre (22) pour chasser tout gaz qui est emprisonné ou qui s'est formé entre ces feuilles (10 et 14) et les faire adhérer l'une à l'autre pour former le composite, puis à placer le matériau composite ainsi obtenu dans un moule sous vide et à le soumettre à des conditions de pression appropriées pour le moulage de l'article.
