Described is a method of fabricating biologically active, unnatural polypeptides. The method includes the steps of selecting a biologically active polypeptide or biologically active fragment thereof having an amino acid sequence comprising .alpha.-amino acid residues, and fabricating a synthetic polypeptide that has an amino acid sequence that corresponds to the sequence of the biologically active polypeptide, but wherein about 14% to about 50% of the .alpha.-amino acid residues found in the biologically active polypeptide or fragment of step (a) are replaced with .beta.-amino acid residues, and the .alpha.- amino acid residues are distributed in a repeating pattern.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de polypeptides non naturels biologiquement actifs. Ledit procédé inclut les étapes suivantes : sélection d'un polypeptide biologiquement actif ou d'un fragment biologiquement actif de celui-ci, ayant une séquence d'acide aminé comprenant des résidus d'un a-amino acide; et fabrication d'un polypeptide synthétique présentant une séquence d'acide aminé correspondant à la séquence du polypeptide biologiquement actif, mais dont environ 14 % à environ 50 % des résidus d'a-amino acide trouvés dans le polypeptide biologiquement actif ou du fragment de l'étape (a) ont été remplacés par des résidus de ß-amino acide, les résidus d'a-amino acide étant répartis selon un modèle de répétition.
