Improved multi-wall containers and pipes (20) for transporting fluids which have to be protected against leakage and mechanical forces, have an inner (10) and outer (14) wall separated by a continuous foam layer (12) integrated into the containers. Improved strength and resistance to axial inertial pressure is provided by the method of manufacture using chopped glass fibers, continuous windings of glass fibers and suitable polyester resins and circumferential ribs (16) spaced at stress points and integrally incorporated into the containment walls (10, 14). Vessels produced according to the methods of the invention have a moment of inertia strength of about 4.67 in 4 substantially eliminating torquing, buckling and rupture.

Cette invention concerne des contenants et tubes à parois multiples améliorés (20) servant au transport de fluides. Caractérisés par une résistance mécanique supérieure et une protection accrue contre les fuites, ils comportent une paroi intérieure (10) et une paroi extérieure (14) séparées par une couche continue de mousse (12). Le gain de résistance aux efforts mécaniques et à la pression dynamique axiale est obtenu par une technique de fabrication utilisant des fibres de verre coupées, des enroulements continus de fibres non coupées et des résines de polyester adaptés aux besoins et prévoyant le façonnage de nervures de renfort circonférentielles (16) aux points de concentration des contraintes dans la masse même des parois susmentionnées (10, 14). Les récipients et tubes réalisés selon la méthode de l'invention affichent un moment d'inertie d'environ 4.67 po4, ce qui élimine quasi complètement les risques de vrillage, de flambage et de rupture.
