METHOD OF MAKING ORGANIC SOLVENT SOLUBLE ZINC ALKOXY ALKOXIDES ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Zinc alkoxides of the formula: (Z-(CH2)n-0) -Zn-(O-(CH2)m-OR2) wherein n and m are the same or different and are each selected from positive integers from 1 to 12; Z is (R10)- or (R1)- and R1 and R2 are the same or different hydrocarbyl radicals of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms are prepared by the reaction of dialkyl zinc with an alkoxy alcohol. The alkoxides of the present invention can be used as soluble precursors for the formation of zinc oxides or as additives for lubricating oils and the like.
