The invention relates to a method of making a press felt, and a press felt. The press felt comprises a continuous base fabric (2) in the lateral direction, and at least one batt fibre layer (1). The closed-loop base fabric (2) is made of longitudinal and transverse yarns. The properties of the press felt, such as permeance, are arranged to be different in edge portions (20) of the press felt from the midportion (30) of the felt.

Ledit feutre de presse comprend un tissu de base continu (2) dans le sens latéral, et au moins une couche de fibres en nappe (1).
