ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of producing dead-burnt magnesia from an ore such as magnesite is devised wherein such ore is enriched in calcium oxide by soaking in an aqueous solution of water-soluble calcium salts, and the soaked material is thereafter fired in any normal manner to obtain dead-burnt magnesia.
