The present invention relates to a method for making improved paper structures that can be produced economically and which provide increased strength without sacrificing softness and absorbency. Conventional papermaking methods teach dewatering of a paper web by pressing the web between two felts that ideally should have a relatively high density and low pore size and permeability. The present invention provides a method of forming a paper web with improved dewatering wherein the web is pressed with an imprinting member between two felt layers. The present invention provides a method that facilitates the dewatering process. This is accomplished by the use of two felts have different air permeabilities and by removing the felt from the web at the nip exit.

L'invention concerne un procédé servant à fabriquer une bande de papier pressée à l'état humide. Une bande embryonnaire en fibres à papier est créée sur un élément de formation foraminé et transférée à un élément d'impression afin qu'une partie desdites fibres soit déviée vers des conduits de déviation de l'élément d'impression. La bande et l'élément d'impression sont ensuite pressés entre un premier et un deuxième feutres d'essorage dans une zone de pincement de compression, de manière à dévier à nouveau les fibres à papier vers les conduits de déviation de l'élément d'impression et à enlever de l'eau depuis les deux côtés de la bande. Le premier feutre est placé en position contiguë à une première surface de la bande. L'élément d'impression est placé entre la deuxième surface de la bande et le deuxième feutre. Le deuxième feutre présente une perméabilité à l'air pouvant être supérieure à celle du premier feutre.
