A method of automatically milking animals, which are allowed to move in an area (3, 5, 6) intended therefore, the area including a resting area (5) and a feeding area (6) and housing a milking station (9), which the animals are allowed to visit individually and which a selected group of said animals have to visit in order to move from the resting area to the feeding area, comprises the steps of establishing a condition for low utilization of the milking station; and feeding the animals by means of a feeding device (38) when the condition for low utilization of said automatic milking machine is met to thereby entice animals in the resting area to move to the feeding area and to therewith present themselves at the milking station.

L'invention concerne un procédé automatique de traite d'animaux pouvant se déplacer dans une zone (3, 5, 6) prévue à cet effet. Cette zone comprend une aire de repos (5) et une aire d'alimentation (6) et abrite une installation de traite (9) que les animaux peuvent visiter individuellement et qu'un groupe sélectionné de ces animaux doit visiter pour passer de l'aire de repos à l'aire d'alimentation. Ce procédé consiste à établir une condition de faible utilisation de l'installation de traite; et alimenter les animaux à l'aide d'un dispositif d'alimentation (38) quand la condition de faible utilisation de cette machine automatique de traite est satisfaite pour ainsi permettre aux animaux se trouvant dans l'aire de repos de se rendre dans l'aire d'alimentation et de se présenter d'eux mêmes à l'installation de traite.
