A method is disclosed of manufacturing a plurality of identically shaped articles from a sheet or web of material. The method includes the steps of forming a sheet or web of material out of one or more layers and then cutting the sheet or web into a plurality of identically shaped articles and a plurality of trim waste members. All of the articles are oriented in the same direction and no part of any article overlies another article. Each of the articles has an outer periphery with at least four spaced apart peripheral segments. Each of the peripheral segments abut against a portion of the periphery of a different adjacent article. The method also requires that when the articles are cut from the sheet or web of material that the ratio of trim waste members to articles is at least 2:1.
