ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: . A method and an apparatus for producing an object made of plastics material in a mould comprising a die and a punch. A feature of the method is that the preforms may be obtained by known method, including thermoforming, blowing, etc. The method is characterized in that a quantity of plastics material is introduced into the cavity of the mould; the flow of the material is controlled while it is being introduced into the mould cavity, by displacing part of the punch relatively to the die, the punch is subjected to a restraining action while the material is being introduced, and the cavity is closed and the plastics material contained is then com- pressed by displacing at least part of the punch in relation to the die.
