ABSTRACT Method of manufacturing an object of metallic or ceramic material. The method is characterized in: embed- ding a preformed powder body of metallic or ceramic mate- rial in an embedding material, placing said preformed body and the embedding material in an open vessel which is resistant to temperature at which sintering of the metal- lic or ceramic material is carried out, transforming the embedding material into a melt having a substantially hori- zontal surface limited by the walls of the vessel with the preformed body being located below the surface of the melt, and applying directly on the melt a pressure by a gaseous pressure medium for isostatic pressing while sintering the performed powder body.
