ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of manufacturing an elongated optical transmission ele- ment having a tubular protective sheathing or tube containing at least one fiber-like light waveguide which has a form of a helix. The method in- cludes subjecting each of the waveguides or the combination of waveguides to an elastic pretorsion while they are introduced into the protective sheathing or tube which is preferably formed by extruding.
