ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Lead fibers containing 50 to 500 ppm tin and having a mean diameter less than 60 microns and a method of manufacturing lead fibers by melt-spinning wherein 50 to 500 ppm tin is added to spinning material mainly composed of lead. A radiation shielding composite material comprising lead fibers having 0.5 to 13 mm mean length and of a diameter of less than 60 microns and a synthetic resin, wherein said radiation shielding composite material has a specific gravity greater than 4.0 is also disclosed, the lead fibers having excellent flexibility, covering power and anticorrosive properties.
