Methods of manufacturing a rechargeable power cell are described. Methods include providing a slurry, paste, or dry mixture of negative electrode materials having low toxicity and including dispersants to prevent the agglomeration of particles that may adversely affect the performance of power cells. The methods utilize semi-permeable sheets to separate the electrodes and minimize formation of dendrites; and further provide electrode specific electrolyte to achieve efficient electrochemistry and to further discourage dendritic growth in the cell. The negative electrode materials may be comprised of zinc and zinc compounds. Zinc and zinc compounds are notably less toxic than the cadmium used in nickel cadmium batteries. The described methods may utilize some production techniques employed in existing NiCad production lines. Thus, the methods described will find particular use in an already well- defined and mature manufacturing base.
La présente invention concerne des procédés de fabrication d'une pile rechargeable. Les procédés consistent à utiliser une suspension, une pâte ou un mélange sec de matériaux d'électrode négative à faible toxicité et comportant des dispersants qui empêchent l'agglomération de particules capable d'endommager l'efficacité des piles. Dans les procédés, on utilise des feuilles semi-perméables pour séparer les électrodes et réduire au maximum la formation de dendrites, puis on utilise un électrolyte spécifique aux électrodes pour produire une réaction électrochimique efficace et pour gêner la croissance dendritique dans la cellule. Les matériaux d'électrode négative peuvent être le zinc et les composés de zinc, qui sont tous notablement moins toxiques que le cadmium utilisé dans les accumulateurs au nickel-cadmium. Les procédés selon l'invention peuvent comprendre l'utilisation de techniques de production employées dans les chaînes de production NiCad existantes. Les procédés selon l'invention sont ainsi particulièrement utiles dans un cadre de fabrication déjà bien défini et évolué.
