ABSTRACT The manufacture of refiner disc segments comprising bars and grooves for the defibration and, respectively, beating of cellulose- containing material conventionally is carried out by casting. It was found that the resulting defibration and, respectively, beating effect and the energy consumption partly depend on designing the bars and grooves in a special way, and partly upon accuracy in the forming of the bars and grooves. According to the invention, the refiner disc segment is manufactured by a spark-machining method.
