A method for the manufacture of silicone rubber moldings comprises the preparation of a silicone rubber composition by blending an organoperoxide having an activation energy of 25 to 41 kcal/mol into a semicurable organopolysiloxane composition whose main component is an organopolysiloxane having organoperoxide-crosslinkable functional groups. The silicone rubber composition is made into a particulate form and heated at a temperature below 100 degrees Centigrade to produce a semicured, particulate molding material which retains the activity of the organoperoxide and which contains residual crosslinkable functional groups on the organopolysiloxane. Subsequently a mold is filled with the molding material and the mold material is completely cured at a temperature of at least 100 degrees Centigrade under the application of pressure. The method is particularly useful for automatic molding methods.

Méthode pour la production de produits moulés en caoutchouc de silicone, consistant à préparer une composition de caoutchouc de silicone par mélange d'un organoperoxyde avec une énergie d'activation de 25 à 41 kcal/mole donnant une composition d'organopolysiloxane semi-réticulable, dont le principal constituant est un organopolysiloxane possédant des groupes fonctionnels d'organoperoxyde réticulables. La composition de caoutchouc de silicone est transformée en particules et chauffée à une température inférieure à 100 degrés C pour l'obtention d'un produit semi-réticulé à mouler, lequel conserve l'activité de l'organoperoxyde et renferme des groupes fonctionnels réticulables dans l'organopolysiloxane. Par la suite, on remplit un moule avec le produit qui est complètement réticulé à une température d'au moins 100 degrés C, sous pression. La méthode est particulièrement utile pour le moulage automatisé.
