A method of marking a skin for a vehicle interior trim panel comprising providing a skin with a color and an outer surface. A laser is applied to the outer surface such that a portion of the skin surface contacted by the laser changes color relative to a portion of the outer skin not contacted by the laser to create a marking in the outer skin surface indicating the presence of a vehicle component or function. In particular, an image, pattern, or color contrast may be created on the skin. A unique hole pattern and size distribution caused by the laser may provide a skin with a woven fabric texture. In addition, stitches formed on a skin surface may be colored differently from the surrounding skin surface to distinguish their appearance.

L'invention concerne un procédé de marquage d'une peau pour un panneau d'habillage d'intérieur de véhicule consistant à doter une peau d'une couleur et d'une surface extérieures. Un laser est appliqué à la surface extérieure de telle sorte qu'une partie de la surface de la peau contactée par le laser change de couleur par rapport à une partie de la peau extérieure ne se trouvant pas en contact avec le laser, afin de créer un marquage dans la surface extérieure de la peau indiquant la présence d'une pièce ou d'une fonction du véhicule. Peuvent notamment être créés, sur la peau, une image, un motif ou un contraste de couleur. Une répartition unique de motifs et de grosseurs de trous, engendrée par le laser, peut donner à la peau une texture de tissu tissée. De plus, des piqûres formées sur la surface de la peau peuvent être colorées différemment de la surface environnante de la peau afin de distinguer leur apparence.
