ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of measuring using a laser consisting of the following described steps. Firstly, establishing a first reference point and a second reference point spaced a known distance apart, thereby providing a scale for measurement. Secondly, establishing a target thereby denoting the distance to be measured. Thirdly, projecting a laser light beam from the first reference point onto the target and measuring a first resultant angle relative to a horizontal plane, and a second resultant angle relative to a vertical plane. Fourthly, projecting a laser light beam from the second reference point onto the target and measuring a first resultant angle relative to a horizontal plane, and a second resultant angle relative to a vertical plane. Fifthly, using the scale provided by the known distance between the reference points and the measured angles as a basis for trigonometric calculation of the horizontal and vertical distance to the target.
