T I T L E A METHOD OF MOLDING HOLLOW ARTICLES OF THERMO- PLASTIC MATERIAL WITH UNCOVERED MOLD ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A simplified method is provided to mold hollow articles having one open side, such as storage tanks or housings, from thermoplastic material. An improvement is made in the procedure of removing a finished part from the mold and preparing the mold for the making of another part. The method involves molding hollow articles having one open side by using a mold which has the corresponding side open and without a cover. The method includes the steps of charging the mold with molding material and rotating said mold above a heater about its longitudinal axis, which axis passes through the center of and is perpendi- cular to said open side. The longitudinal axis is caused to move alternately between two extreme angular positions, one of which is slightly above horizontal and the other of which is at an angle of approximately 45° until the molding material is completely fused against the inside walls of said mold. The mold is subsequently permitted to cool to permit the molded material to congeal. Thereafter, removal of the finished article produced thereby is effected through the open side of the mold.
